Grandma's table |
Sometimes, while the meal, her hands shook so much that the beans fell from the spoon and the soup was spilled. Her son and his wife were so upset for that, and one day, when the old woman spilled a glass of milk, they were determined to end the situation.
They put her in a small table in a corner of the dining-room, near the broom cupboard, and the old woman must ate here. She sit alone, with tears in her eyes, looking them. Sometimes they spoke with her, but frequently it was to scold her for spill a bowl or drop a fork.
One night, before the supper, the little girl was playing in the floor with her building blocks and her father ask about what she was doing.
–I’m making a table for you and mommy– she said, smiling– to eat alone in the corner when I will be older. Her parents looked at her very surprised and started to cry. That night they returned the old woman her seat in the table. Since then, she ate with the rest of the family, and her son and daughter-in-law didn’t upset when she spilled something.
