   Over his examples, Jesus teaches us to tell the truth, even though this will cause him much suffering and death. Saint Thomas said that the truth is something divine: we must respect it and love it. It sometimes demands a lot of effort; but we will be brave to always say the truth.

    Jesus once said: "But let your statement be, 'Yes, yes ' or 'No, no'; anything beyond these is of evil (Matthew 5, 37). It is a good motto to help us be sincere and loyal to God, to ourselves and to others.

2. Damage of lies

   As a match can destroy a forest, the lie can destroy great things like the friendship or the parent confidence. Then, despite the liar tell the truth, no one will believe anything. 4. The eighth commandment orders to respect the honor of others

   The honor is more important than material goods.

    a) Modes of destroying the honor.

    c) Obligation to restore honor. God wants us to be like the guardians of the good name of others. The person who destroys this good reputation sins gravely, if the defect discovered or the damage caused is serious. The person who has damaged the reputation of others is obliged to repair, that is, he must say publicly that what he said is not true. The repair must be done so sin can be forgiven.

5. To care for and to defend our good reputation

   During the trial before the Sanhedrin, a servant slapped Jesus who answered Caiaphas. And the Lord defended himself: "If I spoke wrong, show me what, and although why do you strike me?" (John 18, 23). Jesus gives an example of how to defend the good name when we are attacked unfairly.

6. We can help others with fraternal correction

   Charity will lead us to say nobly, to say things face to face. Say things in truth and charity is to help our brothers with the fraternal correction. We can remember what Jesus said: "The truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
