46. The Second Commandment: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain |
Introduction
This historical fact was narrated in a book:
"There was an opera singer who was very successful and had been applauded in the main cities of the world. But one day she began to lose her voice and to feel discomfort in her throat. The doctors discovered an incurable disease that would kill her. To prevent this, she urgently needed to undergo surgery. They told her: You cannot sing anymore and not even talk ever again. The same day of the surgery, moments before the operation, they asked her if she wanted to say anything. She replied with a smile: Glory to the Father, glory to Son, glory to the Holy Spirit. Those were the last words she spoke.
This is a touching and exemplary story. The second commandment of the Law of God precisely demands from us to honor the name of God.
