1. The end of man: glory, know and love God


Introduction

When we are born we are part of a family that gives us name and last name; in that family we are born, grow up and develop our natural abilities. The baptism produces us a second birth (this time to the supernatural life of grace) makes us Christians and introduces us to the great family of the Church. We are the baptized and we call ourselves Christians. That is our name. Like the first disciples of Christ: Peter, James, John ..., we are also Disciples of Christ.    

Just as we are proud to belong to our family where we learn many things; we should also be proud to belong to the family of the Church. The Church teaches us many things, which are also the most important, the only truly important.

1. What are we on earth?    

Some people wonder why they are on earth, why they were born and no one has explained it. Christians (followers of Jesus Christ) are lucky to know these things. Jesus Christ preached them and the Church also teaches them. The doctrine of Jesus Christ or Christian doctrine answers the fundamental questions.    

And the fundamental questions that men wonder are: where I come from? Who I am? Where I am going? And why do I exist?    

2. Where we come from?    

Christian doctrine says that God freely created men to have part in heaven, I mean in their own happiness. Men are created by God with the cooperation of their parents.    

So “we come from God”.    

3. Who we are?    

God not only created men, but is with them at all times and places. God call and help them to look for him. He want that they know and love him. We know that we are created in the image and likeness of God, and through baptism Christians become adopted children of God, heirs of his glory. Therefore, if somebody asks us: who we are? The answer is clear: I am the son of God.    

4. Where are we going?    

God created men to express and communicate his goodness and love, so that they can know and love Him more and more and so freely serve him in this life, enjoying in the future with him forever in heaven. If we are asked: where we are going? The answer is also clear: we are going to the heaven. If we do not achieve this goal, our life would be a failure.    

5. Why does the man exist?    

Now we can more explicitly respond to this question that man asks: why do I exist? And we have to say: in order to glory God, I mean, to show the kindness and love of the Creator. God loves man very much and the man has to respond by loving God. That is the happiness of man.

6. We need to know about the Christian doctrine   

 We need to know the teachings of Jesus Christ, since he is our God, our model. His teachings show us the way to know and love God, to be happy on this earth and then eternally in the other. Here is a summary of Christian doctrine.    

7. The main parts of the Christian doctrine    

The first things that we need to know are the truths of our faith: who is God? Who is Jesus Christ? Who created the world? Who is the Holy Spirit? Who is the Virgin? Why Christ founded the Church? What is the reward and punishment that awaits us? And so on. These are things that we know when we studied the SYMBOL OF FAITH or the CREED.    

If we want to know how our Christian faith is celebrated? How we become Christians? How we reach the forgiveness of God? How God helps us to overcome the difficulties that we find? ... We learn these things when we study THE LITURGY AND THE SACRAMENTS.    

We also need to know what God wants we make to be happy and make others happy and go to heaven and how to live in Christ. We know it when we study CHRISTIAN MORALITY in THE COMMANDMENTS.    

I have to know the meaning and the importance of prayer in our lives. For that reason the fourth part studies PRAYER IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE.
