3. Decimal addition

Remember: we cannot add pens with balls. We cannot add integers with tenths and hundredths. We have to add integers with integers, tenths with tenths and hundredths with hundredths. So we have to write the integers below the integers and the decimals below the decimals.

Ejemplo:    2,7            0,37
            + 1,85      + 14,013
         ________     ________

Are these decimal numbers good or misplaced for addition?

      3,25
+1,835

     13,08
     +1,29

   121,2
 + 14,37

    121,2
+ 14,37

    12,3
 +124,7

Write these numbers on paper and solve the sums:

2,3  +  5  =

1,108  +  0,017 =

7 + 0,45 =

25,508 + 18,36 =

5,75 + 0,3 =

Convert the word expressions to decimal numbers and then add them.

Seven integers and six hundredths
PLUS one hundred and five integers =

Thirty-six thousandths
PLUS three integers and two tenths
=

Twelve thousandths
PLUS thirteen tenths
=

Eight integers and six hundredths
PLUS twelve Integers and two tenths
=

One integer and four thousandths
Plus seven hundredths
=

Ask how formulate problems and then solve them: problems

John has $ 5.5 and his mother gave him $ 7. How many dollars he has now?

On Monday I walked 112.50 meters and on Tuesday I walked 310.45 meters. How meters I have walked between the two days?

One bread weighs 1.05 kilos and other bread weighs 0.95 kilos. What is the weight between the two?

One bottle has 0.75 liters and another bottle has 1.5 liters. How many liters have between the two?

An apple weighs 0.35 kilos, the second 0.251 kilos and the third 0.1 kilos. What is the weight between the three?
