1. Grace, an internal supernatural gift

   Because of original sin by our first parents, we all are born deprived of the grace that God had given them and their descendants freely. Human nature was also wounded and even with our strength we can’t fulfill it for a long time neither natural law. But, he pitied for us and for the merits of Jesus Christ, God gives and instills the wonderful gift of Grace in the soul. He gives it freely and without deserving it in order to reach eternal life in heaven.

2. Marvels of grace in the soul

   Grace is participation of the divine life. The soul receives the Grace of God, the same compared with the iron or coal in contact with fire: it gets into live red and acquires the properties of fire. The soul in grace is like a ruby in front of God; the sin has been destroyed, it doesn’t exist anymore, and the soul acquires a wonderful shine like a pure and clean fire, the same happens to the coal that loses its blackness and it becomes a wonderful golden ember. Now the soul has divine beauty, with the radiance of grace and the strength of this supernatural life.

3. Sanctifying grace, current grace

   God gives two kinds of grace: sanctifying or habitual grace and current grace.

    a) Sanctifying grace is what makes us righteous and holy, adopted sons of God and heirs of heaven; then we are temples of Holy Spirit and God dwells in the center of the soul. We receive it in the baptism and if we lose it by mortal sin, we can find it in the sacrament of penance. Being with the grace of God, all what we make –a lot, little, easy or difficult- have supernatural merit and it helps to get the sky, if we fulfill the other conditions: in life, with liberty, with good acts, addressed to God and accepted by him; we feel the acceptance and it is implicit in the state of grace.

    b) Current grace is the Grace that God enlightens the understanding and moves the will, as a help to do good –though it be hard- and avoid evil. The passage quoted from the Acts of the Apostles is an example of current grace that God gave Lydia in order to become to the faith of Jesus Christ. Other current graces are the contrition after sinning, purpose of being good, etc.

    God gives the necessary grace to all people for salvation because “God wishes that all men be saved” (1 Timothy 2, 4). Who are condemned is because they haven’t corresponded to the grace of God that God gives them.

5. Means to grow in grace

   The Christian can’t only aspire to maintain the grace, but he must strive for increasing it. Increasing is a sign of vitality and also the grace –which is supernatural life- demands to grow. But we have to put the means that help to develop them: the pray, the sacraments and the good acts made with love. Particularly, when we receive the sacraments, we can grow in grace because it is the first step to begin, it develop itself or we can recover it if we have lost it, the grace of God. Consequently, the Christian life must be, by its own nature, life of confession and frequent communion.

6. A firm purpose: living always in grace of God

   The most precious thing that we have in the world is Grace. A thing is more important above all: living as sons of God; and only one thing is unacceptable: the sin, it means, to be separated from God, to die without his grace and to be lost in the hell eternally. As the classic says: “At the end of the day, who is saved, that man knows and who isn’t saved, that man doesn’t know anything”. Therefore we have to make a purpose of living always in grace of God, and increasing it more and more. If we have the misfortune of losing it by a mortal sin, we must confess as soon as possible in order to be in grace of God again (and to do always an act of contrition pretty soon with the intention of confessing).
