1. The Church is governed by the Pope and the bishops

    Peter and the apostles governed the Church and gave their powers to the successors. The Pope and the bishops are the Hierarchy that governs God's people helped by the presbyters and deacons to whom we have to love and obey. The mission received is to teach the doctrine of Christ by preaching the Gospel; to sanctify by the sacraments; to govern by dictating laws, by judging and by punishing, if it is needed.

2. The Pope

    The pope is the successor of Peter, the Vicar of Christ on earth and the head of the whole Church. He has supreme jurisdiction over all and each of the pastors and believers. Furthermore -for divine will, the Pope as the supreme teacher of the whole Church is infallible and cannot err when he has to determine the doctrines of faith and moral.

3. The Bishops

    The Bishops are successors of the apostles that together with the Pope teach God's people as teachers of the doctrine, priests of the sacred worship and rectors of the flock entrusted to them, usually a small portion of the Church called dioceses. With regard to the magisterium of Bishops, "although each does not enjoy the prerogative of infallibility, however give infallibly know the doctrine of Christ when even scattered throughout the world, keep the communion among themselves and with the successor of Pedro and to authentically teach matters of faith and morals, agree that a doctrine should definitely be maintained " (Lumen gentium, 25).

4. The priests of the second order and the deacons

    The presbyters or priests of the second order are the ministers of Christ, that from the authority of the bishop, cooperate with him in the preaching of the Gospel, in the sanctification of the believers and in the direction of Christian people in order to achieve the salvation, especially through the sacraments of penance and the Eucharist.

    Deacons are the lowest grade of Orders, but they are not priests and cannot exercise the priest functions. They are ordained to the God's people in union with the bishop and his priest in the ministry of liturgy, of preaching and of charity.

5. The Laity

    They are the largest part of the God's people. The laity are the faithful Christians (except clerics and religious) that through the baptism form the God's people and participate in their own way in the priestly and prophetic function of Christ, exercising in the Church and in the world the mission of the whole Christian people. They must be witnesses of Christ in all places where they live and are destined to be saints like other members of the Church.

6. The priests

    They are the believers who live to profess the evangelical advices of poverty, chastity and obedience; thereby they provide an admirable testimony that the world cannot be transformed and offered to God without the spirit of the Beatitudes. In this way, they contribute to the good of the whole Church and to the realization of the saving mission.

1. What is the mission of the Church?  The mission of the Church is to continue the work of Christ in the world.

6. Who are the Bishops?  Bishops are the successors of the Apostles who participate in the apostolic responsibility and in the mission of the Church from the authority of the Pope. They are the visible head of the Church.

7. Who are members of the Church?  The members of the Church are the saints in heaven, the souls in purgatory and the believers on earth.
