Name: ______________________________________ Subject: _______________________ Date: _______
Write the missing word
To divide a whole number by a decimal, we must remove the decimal point of the divisor and add to the dividend as many zeros there are decimal places in the divisor. Then, we divide as if these were whole numbers.
Example: 138:1.9 1380:19
Solve these divisions:
525 : 1,5 = |
30 : 1,2 = |
208 : 0,4 = |
543 : 0,3 = |
45 : 0,09 = |
• To divide two decimal numbers, we must move the decimal point in the divisor to the right until it is a whole number. Then we move the decimal point in the dividend to the right by the same number of places as the decimal point was moved to make the divisor a whole number.
Example: on the upper picture: 10. 83:1. 9 108. 3: 19 ; 11. 83:2. 7 118. 3:27
1,024 : 0,16 = |
9,72 : 0,09 = |
102,4 : 0,32 = |
23,8 : 0,13 = |
10,83 : 1,9 = |
Let's review the decimal numbers.
What number is for this expression? ?
Ten and three hundredths |
One and nine tenths |
One and twenty-four thousandths |
Transform these decimal units.
435 hundredths = |
2.5 Tenths = |
6 thousandths = |
Subtract these decimals:
3 - 2,025 = |
4,5 - 0,45 = |
17,1 - 3,75 = |
Multiply these decimals:
0,2 x 1,12 = |
3,1 x 0,7 = |
0,05 x 700 = |
Ask how formulate problemas and then solve them:
