Freedom and truth |
By watching the good or evil works from others, we have to consider if they were done with a personal consent. For that freedom of will is needed. When a bad act is done due to the violence of other, or the will is limited or cancelled out by fear, passions, etc. we cannot already affirm that action to be bad.
About freedom many mistakes have been developed: from those denying its existence, to those who think of it as an absolute value, without any limitation, even though man is limited in himself. Some people ask for the political freedom, freedom of thinking, or speaking, and they do not respect the freedom of each person.
In our case, we admit that the man is free and has the self-determination. But, man decision cannot be arbitrary, but it must respect the objective order that corresponds to the truth of reality.
Some people only accept physical realities, such as a table, a pen, a laptop, etc. but there are other realities such as lie, robbery, adultery, injustice, etc. In the human order we have other realities, such as the voice which I speak with, the ideas I express, my feelings, etc. So, these other realities have to be accepted as objective ones and not being arbitrary creations of man.
If only the physical truth exists, those other realities would be opinions changing along time or something that every one could interpret. This is subjetivism which try to deny all the amount of objective realities we have just described.
If freedom accepts the real objective order, it acquires its higher status, because the truth inside Jesus words are found and accepted: “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (Jn 8,32).
