Everyday we can see on TV some news that we consider to be bad, things that we shouldn’t do, and others that are positive and something worthy of being imitated, that we consider as good ones.

    In this way, ethics (which is related to good and bad habits) and morals study human acts from the point of view of good and evil.

    Men have two references in their life: knowledge with its categories of truth and mistake; and life itself which is judged by criteria of good and evil. Thinking and living are two dimensions of men.

    When Aristotle defined man as rational animal, affirmed that thinking is something suitable for them, and that they have the ability of judging the good and the evil, the fair and the unfair. And because of that, men distinguish themselves from animals.

    The society of Athens reached an important development in Philosophy, Literature, Phisics, Astronomy, Medicine, Sports and other subjects, but even though it fell down in a moral crisis. Socrates rebeled against that situation and so he is considered the founder of Ethics or Morals, named by him as the science of sicences. He maintained to be Ethics what made men happier. He said that different knowledges and human life will be better in proportion with the practice of a moral life. When the moral life declines not only is the individual behaviour affected but also the whole society falls into a crisis.

    Nowadays there are warning signs in society facing how moral values are decreasing in so many fields of individual and social life.

    Facing the seriousness of political corruption, social injustice and economic inequality, suffered by so many countries, we can understand the need of a radical personal and social renewal in order to assure honesty, solidarity and transparency.
